User's Hints
- Programme fee to start with us is $33 subject to all completed and accepted
application forms. You must declare any non-physical illnesses which might impact on our
volunters. We only help people with a physical disability who are primarily
housebound.
- The continuing programme fee is then $33 per quarter, payable in advance. If you cannot afford this you must advise us before your next due date
and we will forward an application form to you for completion so we can try to obtain a sponsor for you.
- We are a communication programme first and foremost with internet access to
help you learn about your issues, find information, to be better informed, access government websites, shop etc.
- We provide a fixed amount of upload/download per month and three hours
online access daily. Once you reach this limit you may find you can only process emails
without attachments until the start of the next month.
- All equipment is strictly provided ON LOAN BASIS ONLY by Beyond
Disability and is set up to be internet-capable, together with a 17-inch screen, a modem, mouse and keyboard.
- For people who can no longer use their hands but can speak clearly we try
to provide voice activated computers and laptops, subject to availability.
- We also use TADVic and COMTech for advice on how best to help some of our
clients.
- We gratefully acknowledge Microsoft Community initiatives for providing
us with software, namely Windows 98, office 97, XP, Office 2003, and MS Picture IT photographic
software.
- We acknowledge Capital Security Solutions who provide us with Norman anti-virus software.
- You cannot load any other software onto a BDI computer without prior
written consent.
- You must not load any software on the computers unless you own the
licence for the software.
- Any alteration to a BDI computer might void your agreement with us
causing the equipment to be collected and you not being able to continue in
our programme.
- Any retrieval costs and costs to bring a computer so collected back to
normal use will be for the client's account as stated in the agreement.
